In April of 2018, I owned a 2006 Triton TrxHP 21. At that time my boat had a Lowrance Gen 1 Hds 8 mounted inside the plastic wood grain factory dash. The dash panel had been cut out with a jig saw in order to fit the depth finder. It was a total chopped-up mess. It was around this time I decided I would really like a nice unit mounted on my dash like the ones seen on many of the newer boats out there. Having a father in the machine shop business for over 30 years and a shop full of materials laying around, we went to work.
After a couple of days of trial and error, the X series dash panel upgrade was born. I was excited to see what we had designed and out of that excitement I decided to make a social media post displaying photos of our finished product
This was the moment everything changed. For days and weeks afterward, my phone and social media messages erupted with calls and messages. So many people wanted to know if we could make a dash panel replacement for their X series boat just like mine. Then, soon after, I started getting requests for panels of different model boats and different brand boats. At this moment, I realized we were onto something. We had tapped into a niche market that needed to be met with options that no one else was offering. Out of that, AMP — Ashmore Marine Products — was born.
Each time I looked at designing a new dash panel replacement, I tried to eliminate unnecessary gauges and reconfigure the necessary gauges. This provides a clean look and makes space for electronics.
Not long after the new dash panel was born, something else came to mind. A costly mistake, which I made more than once, was a cut transducer cable on my trolling motor. I set out to solve this problem so it would never happen to me, or anyone else, again. After dreaming, drawing, and multiple designs, I fabricated the very first cable management system.
This was a bigger issue than I ever imagined and quickly became a best-selling product for our company. We started with ultrex to solve my own problem, but then expanded to include Lowrance Ghost, Garmin Force, Minnkota Fortrex, and Motorguide Tour Pro.
This mechanism keeps your cable from being cut and eliminates the need for zip ties/electrical tape, which in return provides your transducer with a clean look and more protection than ever before.
Since those days back in 2018, we have spent countless hours dreaming and designing different parts and accessories we feel make your day on the water a little bit better. From cable management kits that save your transducer cables, to bait storage, live-well organization, and many other accessories.
Today we’ve been blessed to send panels and accessories all over the globe. We’ve met and made friends from one side of the country to the other. It’s our customers who have made AMP what it is today and for that, we are forever grateful.
